Asmita is a Researcher who earned her PhD in Public Health from Auckland University of Technology. She has held research positions at a number of tertiary institutions in the Auckland region. Asmita has worked on a wide-range of health-related studies.

Asmita also teaches research methodology. She also holds a Research Fellow position at Auckland University of Technology. She is also on the Executive of the New Zealand Association of Gerontology, where she holds the Communications Portfolio.
